Climate Conversations is our Peer Support group for anyone who is concerned about the climate crisis. Living in the climate crisis, and starting to understand what that mean for ourselves and others presents us with difficult questions and emotions.
In our group we support each other as we try to come to terms with what’s happening to our world and figure out how we want to respond. This includes our emotional responses, the actions we can take in our everyday lives and strategies for looking after ourselves.
One thing we have learnt is that it really helps to be with other people who care and to have the opportunity to talk things through with other people.
The planned conversation topics:
1) Questions and suggestions: it’s been six months since our group began meeting! We’d like to hear what you think about the group. We’re interested in your preferences and thoughts even if you’re a new member.
2) Why is action important? Action is one of the three dimensions of healthy coping in response to the climate crisis1Pihkala, Panu. “The Process of Eco-Anxiety and Ecological Grief: A Narrative Review and a New Proposal.” Sustainability 14, no. 24 (January 2022): 16628. https://doi.org/10.3390/su142416628.. We’re going to explore how taking action can help us with coping and adjusting to life in the climate crisis.
